Continuing education and RCEP

Many states now require licensed engineers and surveyors to meet requirements in continuing professional competency, or CPC. A licensed engineer or surveyor often is required to complete a number of professional development hours, or PDHs, to renew the license.

For licensees who practice in more than one state, keeping track of PDH requirements can be complicated, especially since requirements vary by state.

To help connect licensees with qualified course providers, NCEES has partnered with ACEC to create the Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP), an online service with several benefits for both professionals and course providers.

Benefits for multistate licensees

By signing up at RCEP.net, licensees can find CPC course providers in their area. They can also self-report earned PDH credits and track their progress toward meeting CPC requirements for license renewal. They can even download certificates of completion from registered providers and make their PDH credit history available for licensing boards to review online.

High standards for course providers

Course providers in the RCEP directory have been vetted by NCEES to ensure a high level of instructional quality. They demonstrate adherence to high standards and effective practices in professional training, and benefit from the increased exposure to licensees that results from being listed on the RCEP directory.
