Special accommodations

Attention future exam candidates:

Beginning with the October 2010 exam administration, requests for special testing accommodations will be made through the NCEES online registration system. Those requesting accommodations for October should wait to submit their requests until the registration window opens in early July.

ADA

NCEES provides reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act as amended. If you have a documented disability, you may apply for special testing accommodations.

During online registration with NCEES, indicate that you are requesting special accommodations (select "ADA" from the drop-down list). You will then select the disability type (learning, mental, or physical) and the types of accommodations you are requesting. Candidates requesting ADA accommodations will be asked to provide additional information, including supporting documentation from a qualified professional.

Religious

You may request to take the exam on an alternate date due to sabbath observance.

During online registration with NCEES, indicate that you are requesting special accommodations (select "religious" from the drop-down list). You will be prompted to provide additional information.

Military

If you are currently serving as an active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces (not a retired member or a federally employed civilian), you can request to take an exam in a state or territory different from the one in which you are applying for licensure. You will have the opportunity to make this request during online registration with NCEES.

When registering, select the state where you are applying for licensure and complete your registration as if you were sitting for the exam in that state. After you have completed registration, you will then have the opportunity to request special testing accommodations. Select "military" from the list of special accommodations. You will then be asked to provide information about where you would like to sit for the exam. You will also be required to submit documentation indicating that you will be stationed outside the state where you have registered. After your request has been considered, NCEES will notify you of any accommodations granted.
