Religious accommodations

Deadline

All requests and supporting documentation must be received by February 23.

Requesting accommodations

If you wish to request to take an exam on an alternate date due to sabbath observance, you will be asked to indicate so during the online exam registration with NCEES. To be granted special accommodations, you must make this request each time you take an exam, even if you have been granted accommodations for a past exam. Applicants are encouraged to register for the exam as early as possible.

Supporting documentation

After online exam registration, you will be able to select a link to request special accommodations. You will then be required to submit supporting documentation from a religious official such as a priest, rabbi, or cleric. This documentation must (a) confirm that you are a member of the denomination in question, (b) state that this denomination's sabbath takes place on the day of the scheduled exam, (c) be submitted and signed on official letterhead by the religious official, and (d) be dated within one year of the exam administration date.

NCEES recommends submitting supporting documentation promptly after registering online, as additional information may be required. Supporting documentation can be submitted via fax, e-mail, or regular mail to the attention of the NCEES Special Accommodations Coordinator. Click here for contact information.

Notification

You should periodically log in to your My NCEES account to check the status of your request. The licensing board (or its agent) where your exam will be administered will notify you of any specific accommodations granted.
