NCEES is a standards development organization with the American National Standards Institute. ANSI is the U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization. Its membership includes more then 100,000 government agencies, corporations, and academic and international bodies.
Recognized standards
The Model Law Engineer standard describes the criteria for licensure as a professional engineer. The Model Law Surveyor standard outlines the requirements for licensure as a professional surveyor. The criteria for both standards are divided into education, professional experience, and examinations.
Standards under review
NCEES has submitted a draft standard for the Model Law Structural Engineer. It is currently under a period of public review.
The NCEES Standards Development Manual outlines the procedures in conformance with the ANSI Essential Requirements for accreditation as an ANSI standards developer and provides guidance to participants in the NCEES standards development process.
