NCEES policy prohibits any person who teaches a refresher course for a specific type of exam to select, assemble, or review items for or proctor that examination.

What area of exam development or scoring would you like to be involved in?

QUESTION WRITING AND REVIEWING: Multiple-choice questions are needed for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS), the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE), and the Principles and Practice of Surveying (PS) Examinations. Questions submitted by others must also be reviewed for accuracy, reasonableness, timing, and the like. This is an ongoing activity, and volunteers are needed several times a year.

JOB ANALYSIS: The content of each examination is determined by a questionnaire distributed to licensed professionals across the United States. A job analysis is conducted every 7–10 years for each examination. Volunteers are needed periodically for short amounts of time.

DETERMINING PASSING SCORES: A panel of knowledgeable engineers/surveyors sets the passing score on examinations. Volunteers are needed periodically for short amounts of time.

EXAM COMMITTEE: Committees meet throughout the year to assemble and review future exams.
